Creative Writer Although this product may be fun for kids, it is so far afield from the normal Mac interface, that I do not recommend this product for Mac users. Non-standard icons are used for copy, past, cut, print, etc. My 9 yr. old found the interface confusing, and hard to negotiate. Dinosaur Adventure 3D Award winning exploration of dinosaurs through interactive games, pictures, and QuickTime movies. Product recommended for ages 3-10, but the only appropriate activity for 3-5 is the Sotrybook, and possibley the Creat-A-Saurus. Product might be good for 8-10, becuase its lacks the interativity that young kids enjoy, and much of the quicktime is violent, and I do not recommend it for little ones. Photo Safari is confusing. Dinosaur Discovry Excellent reference product. No fancy multimedia, but a great interface with easy to find information. Areas include Bookshelf, Dinosaurs, Topics, and Activites. Topics includes an Introduction, Museum, Time Line, Glosary and Associates. Quicktime movies accompany the Fossils area. Names are spoke, and text can be spoken or read. Highly recommended for the classroom, because some kids can look at CD without disturbing other kids with monotonous music. Drawbacks: Only contains one puzzle and one dinosaur to make. Dinosaur Safari Your assignment is to take pictures of dinosaurs and other extinct reptiles. Start in the futuristic National Chronographic Society building; where you choose a reptile a from a wall of crystals. Explore the geography, era, and land mass associated with the chosen reptile. Brief information on plant and animal life is presented. The animated pictures are well done. Program lacks good sound and narration, plus the interface may be confusing at first.
