Tom's first game after his broken foot healed was consumed in wet fog. Tom Day made the only (and winning) goal in the first game of the 2001 MIAA Boys Soccer Division I South tournament. The 14th seeded Needham Varsity Rockets beat the 3rd seated Greater New Bedford team.
