Don Crabb
Don never answered these questions in email; but there were some interesting questions posed of Don in live chats Ilene hosted with him on Talk City. Answers are culled from those chats. Please see his complete biography on Don's second page. Its old, but fascinating none the less. Notable silly quotes from Don's chats: "Apple support. There's an oxymoron!" 11/97 "Effective immediately, Apple is getting out of the computer business. Yeah, they are moving into the personal growth and wellbeing biz. The iMac will be followed by the usMac, weMac, and I'mOKYou'reOKMac." 7/30/98 |

| Not so Current Machines: |
1/15/98: I used about ten different machines. My regulars are a 233MHz MMX Gateway Solo notebook with NT, a PowerBook G3, a Power Computing PTP with a G3 accelerator, and a Dell 300MHz Pentium II with 95, NT, and Linux partitions. | |
| Present Occupation: | "I've been a writer for 20 years, so I've learned to expect the unexpected from PR folks and from marcom types." | |
| How do you get ideas for alll those columns you write?: | I am the most opinionated SOB on the planet! - 11/20/97 | |
| Question from Warren in CA: Don, I recently got my machine and feel overwhelmed by the amount of stuff to learn and with the rapid tech increase [and] no $$$$ to keep up...what is a person to do? | It is tough, I admit, and I am paid to keep up. I think you need to pick a few key areas and read the literature on those and remain current as best you can in those areas. Pick areas that mean the most to you. Personally, despite its low signal to noise ratio, I use the web to stay current. - 11/20/97 | |
| Question from gavin_: Do you think rumors/news sites help or hurt Apple? | DonCrabb: Depends on the rumors they report and when they report them. the reason I started the Rumor Reality Report on MacCentral was because I worry about some of the crapola that gets passed off as a "rumor" worthy of a report. If Apple breaks wind, I can guarantee you that some site will report "Apple Blows Up!" - 3/19/98 | Don you certainly are a prolific writer, can you tell us how you manage to juggle your teaching career with all your writing? (or is that an industry secret?) ;-) | "I have no personal life! I suppose I am a classic workaholic." |
