How did you personally
get into using the Macintosh family of computers?
Always fascinated by computers, but the programming I learned in HS & college was SO dry that I gave them up -- until my Advertising Design prof. told me I should take a Mac class in '88.
*Status: Jack of All Trades (freelance) & BOD member of local MUG (Corvallis, OR).

When did you get your first modem? 1994.
Who did you call first? Work & myself--had to test the thing, y'know....
Present Occupation: Graphic/Web designer.
Claim to Fame: My stupid pop cultural dingbat fonts--although the ton of email I get due to them is mostly compliments from the Dark Side. Oh...and Reel Big Fish used my "Monster Party" font on one of their concert T-shirts.
Dream Job: Creation of a COMPLETE Web based community--and it would overlook the Pacific. It wouldn't hurt if there were a dozen or so little iMacs around for demo & educational purposes....
Not So Random Thoughts...
Was there ever a time in your life that you had to "Think Different?" What was the situation and what did you do?
When I became an online editor for the local paper I was faced with working on PCs running OS2 Warp & Indy Unix boxes running IRIX 5.3 -- in addition to my Mac. Often someone would have some sort of trouble--especially in the all-PC newsroom--most of the solutions involved my 7600.
How has using the Macintosh computer changed your life?
Are you kidding? Since that first Mac design class, every job I've had has revolved around my Mac skills.
What is the weirdest thing in your office right now?
Oh, please?! How 'bout the sanest? Weird? How 'bout the KISS figures on the wall; or my concert posters & photos from a myriad of heavy metal concerts; or my absolute ton of action figures and toys from fast food joints.
My Passions are:
Creating odd fonts, photography, learning a new graphics app, the ocean.
If you could have dinner with one person dead or alive who would that person be and what would you ask them?
Andy Kaufman. Was everything a joke to you?
Do you play a musical instrument and/or are you in a band?
I play a mean air guitar--and I've played with most of the heavier rock bands out there.
When I grow up I want to be:
Who wants to grow up?
The question never asked:
Whoa, Zen!

Just The Facts, Please...
Biographical Tidbits: Studied to be an architect but started running with a bad crowd of Journalism/Advertising students. Things happen--bad, peer group things.... Education: BS in Journalism from Univ. of Oregon, minor in English.
Location at Birth: Long Beach, CA. Current Location: Corvallis, OR.
Where you've
been in between:
Most western states and Mexico/TD> Astrological Sign: Scorpio--and something to do with a dragon

Michael's Personal Web Site
