Eusebio Mercado III

Not much to say, husband, parent of 3, heavily into computers, with a high regard and respect for the Macintosh and Apple. I'm a repair technician by trade, speciallizing in the building, repair, and upgrade of PCs.

How did you personally
get into using the Macintosh family of computers?
I started out on an Apple Kit, and owned several Apple II models, including clones. It was my freshman year in highschool, 1988 I do believe, where I was introduced to the illustrious Mac Plus and the Mac II Back then the Plus was a 1500 dollar machine complete with printer. Our school had a network of 30 Mac Pluses, 2 Mac II's a projection system, and 7 Imagewriter II's all on LocalTalk. eww?? LOL
Status: Hrmm, somewhere between a dweeb, and an evangelist I would expect.
First Mac:
Performa 405 picture
In 1992 I bought a Performa 405 (LC II), complete with Apple Performa display, and a microphone.
Current Mac:
PowerBook picture
I now use a Powerbook 2400/180. 9600/200 and a Powerbook Duo 230/33 docked in an Original Duo Dock.
When did you get your first modem? Hrmm, I'd have to say my first modem was a Hayes 300 Baud Modem way back when that was the standard in computing. LOL Around 82, or 83.
Who did you call first? Local BBS's. Downloaded lots of useless files!!!
Present Occupation: Technician by profession. Currently Host & Scheduling Coordinator for the Mac Forum, Assistant Forum Manager for the Food Forum on Talk City.
Claim to Fame: Obviously my 3 Children!!!!! They are THE most wonderful creation in my life!
Dream Job: Well, since we're dreaming, I'd love to be the Pilot of the Space Shuttle.
Not So Random Thoughts...
Was there ever a time in your life that you had to "Think Different?" What was the situation and what did you do?
Well, repairing PC's one has to think differently all the time. Since there's so many things that could go wrong with them, improvisation is the only way to go!! LOL, not as simple as the Mac eh??
How has using the Macintosh computer changed your life?
The Mac has given me the ability to work productively. How many systems do you know where you can do a whole web site, without having to worry about some sort of blue screen of death??
What is the weirdest thing in your office right now?
Wierdest, Hrmm, that'd have to be my PC, it just doesn't mix in with the Mac's LOL
My Passions are:
I love music, concerts specifically.
If you could have dinner with one person dead or alive who would that person be and what would you ask them?
Most Definitely Steve Jobs. I would ask him, what his vision is for Apple. Where does he see Apple in 10 years!!
Do you play a musical instrument and/or are you in a band?
Long time ago I used to play the trumpet and Coronet, also learned to play the piano. Next I want to beat on some drums!!!
When I grow up I want to be:
I'm not grown up yet?? Heehee, I want to be the systems administrator of the largest network in the world, anyone know where that is??
The question never asked:
Hrmm, I've been asked about most everything. LOL. I guess one would ask what's my shoe size! <eg>
